Greetings! I’m speculative author Nora Weston.
My fiction and poetry slips in-between and all around science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Frequently, my characters find themselves in frightening situations. Reality is then turned upside down and placed in the middle of a supernatural event. I use these extraordinary situations to explore human nature since some of my characters rise to the occasion, stay focused, and beat the odds; other characters consistently make decisions that lead them into a bleak reality.
Born and raised in Wheeling, WV, I grew up in a small neighborhood set against dark woods that certainly fueled my imagination. My favorite television shows were the Twilight Zone, Dark Shadows, and dare I say…Star Trek. I love good, old-fashioned horror stories, especially if a lesson about life is learned. My favorite authors are Stephen King, C.S. Lewis, Alexandre Dumas, and Edgar Allan Poe. I also enjoy reading the poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley, Sylvia Plath, Virginia Woolf, William Blake, and Wilfred Owen.
I’ve been an elementary school teacher and a freelance artist. My husband and I have six children. Currently, five of the six are licensed drivers. Yes…teaching young people to drive is the most terrifying job in the world!
